Gould's Day Spa & Salon has opened its first location in Mississippi at 5070 Goodman Road in the Wedgewood Commons Center in Olive Branch.
The new 6,000-square-foot facility will employ 45 stylists, estheticians, nail technicians and support staff. “Substantial growth in DeSoto County attracted the company to the area,” said Philip Gould, president of the 77-year-old company, in a statement.
The Olive Branch location will offer a complete menu of spa services, including hair and nails, massage therapy and skin and body treatments.
Gould’s also offers an extensive line of professional products including Aveda, Bumble & Bumble, Pureology, Murad and Pure Fiji, among others. While the opening comes during a soft economy, David Gould, vice president of the company, is confident the move is a wise one. “Even when people are reducing their spending in other areas, they still want to look and feel their best,” he said in a statement.
Design firm Glennys Cowles Designs and architect Tim Garrett of Belz Enterprises created the contemporary look of the Olive Branch facility. Gould’s also operates five day spas and nine full-service hair salons in the greater Memphis area. Founded in Memphis in 1932, Gould’s Salons Inc. currently employs more than 400 people.
